Wallis Best-Plummer, PhD, MS, was most recently the country director in Guyana for the International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH). Prior to this position, Dr. Best-Plummer taught at the University of Guyana in the Pharmacy Department. During her tenure with the University of Guyana and as head of the Pharmacy Department, Dr. Best-Plummer was instrumental in streamlining the operations of the Department. She was the founding chairperson of the Pharmacy Council of Guyana and coordinated the development of the continuing education program. Dr. Best-Plummer was awarded a Fulbright-LASPAU scholarship to pursue a master of science in pharmacology science at the University of Connecticut, United States, and subsequently received a Fulbright grant from the World Health Organization/United Nations Development Program/World Bank Special Program for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases to undertake doctoral studies at the University of the West Indies in pharmacology.
